· WSU Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program was established three years ago and has successfully educated two fellows. Each fellow received multiple job offers, and each is currently working in a leadership in a local hospital. · Our program offers a well rounded experience. The training settings include inpatient palliative care consultation teams in inpatient hospice unit, as well as outpatient and homecare settings. Our fellows rotate through our partner organizations: the Detroit Veteran Affairs Hospital, Detroit Medical Center hospitals, Karmanos Cancer Center, out patient clinics, Hospice of Michigan, and Angela Hospice. · Our program is based on inter-disciplinary teams working together. The teams include physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, clergy, volunteers, and other professionals working with the terminally ill patients, their families and caregivers. · Our Fellowship was created by the strategic partnership of WSU Center to Advance Palliative-Care Excellence, WSU department of Internal Medicine, and VA Palliative Care Program. Our goal is to produce well trained, compassionate Palliative Medicine specialists that are so needed throughout Michigan healthcare networks and communities. · When training with us, you will have the opportunity to work in many healthcare settings with diverse patient populations. We guarantee a unique experience. |
