             General Research including:

Investigation of dyspnea (breathlessness) in the terminally ill, which afflicts a majority of dying patients, particularly if they are dying from heart or lung disease.  This is a frightening symptom that leaves the patient with a feeling of suffocation.  Less is known about how to treat breathlessness compared to what is known about treating pain.  Studies are needed to improve terminal illness care for patients who are breathless.

Endowments

Establish a named endowment to provide CAPEWAYNE with resources in perpetuity.  Your gift of $25,000 (minimum) can create a scholarship in your name or that of a loved one to support medical students who wish to advance in palliative care training for the benefit of their patients and the community.

Other named endowment opportunities are available to support research, education and the advancement of the Center.  Endowment resources help CAPEWAYNE attract highly knowledgeable and esteemed physicians and researchers to further our palliative care mission.
